Brendan Numedahl of Decorah, Iowa has been awarded the 2016-2017 Adam J. Bohr Memorial Engineering Scholarship. The scholarship is given by the Bohr family and McClure Engineering Company of Clive, Iowa in honor of Mr. Bohr. The scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing the field of engineering and is based on scholastic standing, community involvement and extracurricular activities.
Numedahl will receive $4,000, paid over two years, for his pursuit of engineering study. He is graduating from Decorah High School and plans to attend Iowa State University to study engineering.
“Adam was full of energy and not afraid to take on tough challenges. His personality would light up a room – not typical of most engineers,” said Terry Lutz, CEO of McClure Engineering Company. “When selecting a scholarship winner, we try to find someone that best represents Adam and we believe Brendan does just that.”
About the Adam J Bohr Memorial Scholarship
Bohr graduated from Decorah High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University. He was a successful partner with McClure Engineering Company, managing the North Liberty office before passing away in 2010.
The scholarship was started in 2011 by the Bohr family and McClure Engineering Company. It is open to students in Decorah. The scholarship is awarded based on scholastic standing, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and a short essay on why the individual wants to study engineering.
