NORTH KANSAS CITY, Missouri, December 23, 2019 – Mark Griffin, PE has joined the McClure team as Project Manager for the water group.

In his role, Griffin will be working on water projects in the Midwest, primarily near the Kansas City metro, along with developing relationships with current and future clients.

“Everything I read about the company and based on the people I met during the interview process convinced me this is a company I can retire with,” said Griffin.

Griffin began his professional career at WATER 1 in Johnson County, Kansas, designing and overseeing construction management of all new developer water mains. He then spent 8 years at the City of Independence, Missouri as a Project Engineer 2. In this role, Griffin worked on a water treatment plant expansion, a new horizontal collector well, several water tank rehabilitations, water main extensions, hydraulic modeling, new alluvium wells, and other water supply projects.

After leaving the City of Independence, Griffin spent twenty years as Engineering Manager at Missouri American Water Company (MAWC). During this time, he worked on numerous water supply, water treatment plants, and water main projects, some of which were very cutting edge. For example, Griffin was the Project Manager on the first water ozone treatment plant in Missouri (Warrensburg) as well as the first UV water treatment plant in Missouri (Joplin).

Following MAWC, Griffin moved to California where he pursued a career in water storage tanks – serving as Western Region Manager for Tank Industry Consultants. In this capacity, he worked across nine states on the west coast performing sales, marketing, business development, and project management for water storage tank projects.

Griffin spent the last two years as Utility Officer for Systems Engineering for the City of Kansas City, Missouri. In his role, Griffin managed the delivery of all new water main planning, design, and construction. He also managed the wastewater collections engineering and field engineering, which included inspections for all water main construction and the water department survey departments.

“Kansas City is a great place to live and I want to continue to live here. The values I see in McClure perfectly match my own values which leads me to believe I can make strong contributions to the McClure team thus giving me the satisfaction as contributing team member that will lead to a healthy prosperous long term working relationship,” said Griffin.

Griffin has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the states of Missouri and California and holds a Class A Water Operator and Water Distribution Class III, both in Missouri.
