McClure Engineering Company, along with Radius Track Corporation, took home the First Place Award for Design Excellence in the Municipal Project category at the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) Annual Expo.
The award was given to Radius Track Corporation and McClure Engineering Co. for work on the Faena Forum dome in Miami Beach, Florida. The project included a 40’ tall dome with center oculus that was designed as a focal point for events such as recitals, concerts, and art shows among others. Radiused trusses support attic live load and 2,000 lb. event loads for potential hanging items.
“This project stretched the limits of what we can do with curved [radiused] CFS,” said Marcus Himmelberg, P.E. at McClure Engineering Company. “It is an excellent showcase of what we can provide for our CFS clients.”
Faena Forum is located in the Faena District of Miami Beach and offers 43,000 sq. ft. with 8 flexible event spaces and a maximum capacity of 665 guests.
