Project Overview

Armour Road is an important arterial street for the City. Home to the North Kansas City Hospital, Cerner and the new Armour Road Redevelopment Area, it provides the main connection from Interstate 35 / 29, Avondale and to the City’s Main Street District. McClure was tasked to provide improvements to the Armour Road and Walker Road intersection to reduce existing queueing resulting in potential safety issues. McClure completed a preliminary traffic analysis of the Armour Road & Walker Road intersection with video from multiple of our traffic cameras.

Project Highlights

  • Strategies for controlling traffic and sequencing work during reconstruction of intersection, maintain all current lanes of vehicular traffic open during peak times to ease congestion and delays
  • Dual left turn lane utilization factor improvements and proposed 150 foot extension to help with overflow
  • Projects potential to fulfill a vision for trail users and contributes to multimodal users for sustainability
  • Disseminating timely, accurate, easy-to-understand information to stakeholders and residents is critical to the public engagement success of the project
