ARROWHEAD SENIOR LIVING FACILITY
Project Overview
McClure provided landscape architectural design, documentation, and construction administration services for the Arrowhead Senior Living facility, completed in January 2019 for Midwest Health. This community is part of a notable location in Osage Beach, MO, just off Highway KK and US Highway 54.
The site was carefully designed to focus on the entry at the new Arrowhead Drive, with the main monument signage and landscaping at this location. The community’s entrance off of Highway KK was enhanced in a more subtle manner with landscape berming, smaller-scale signage, and tree material to provide a buffer to the more heavily trafficked road adjacent to the site.
Within the building courtyards, each area was given a unique character with the placement of bronze wildlife statues in planting designs intended to accentuate the featured statue and provide for therapeutic experiences at each community patio location. The dining patio area was carefully designed to provide for relief and buffer from the nearby parking area.
Off the memory care wing, an easily accessible space was designed with attention paid to the details of the walking surfaces to allow for someone with mobility problems to move about as freely as possible. Gardens are crucial in helping memory care residents feel less trapped and more attuned to the natural rhythms of day and night. Special attention was paid to the planting to provide for colorful, fragrant plants in an all-season garden.
