HUB II – GAINESVILLE, FL

Project Overview

Located in Central Gainesville, Florida, Hub II is a 7-story, 250,000 square foot multi-use commercial and residential building. Hub II is a 6-story structure of cold-formed-steel (CFS) over a 1-story post-tensioned (PT) concrete podium. The CFS structure is a concrete floor over CFS joists and CFS load-bearing wall panels. Concrete shearwalls serve as the lateral system for the structure. Many design aspects of the CFS make this project unique.

Project Highlights:

  • This is one of the first known projects in the country to include a rooftop pool on CFS load bearing wall framing.
  • The exterior of the building includes a large feature and signage that cantilevers 6’-0” from the building that was erected with panelized CFS framing.
  • The project was one of the first two structures erected in the country utilizing stay-in-place CFS panelized wall formwork for concrete walls.
