McClure’s History
In 1956, Jon McClure founded McClure Engineering Company in Jefferson, Iowa. The following year, he partnered with Don Culver, creating McClure & Culver Consulting Engineers.
Jon McClure and Don Culver parted ways. While Don remained in Jefferson, Jon sold his shares of the company and they relocated McClure Engineering Company to Fort Dodge, Iowa, where we remain a strong community partner to this day.
Mike Trotter started his career with McClure in 1966. He continued his education and received his Master’s Degree in 1979.
McClure moves into the current Fort Dodge office at 705 First Avenue N. The building, built in 1918, was once a hotel, famous for being the last place Buddy Holly stayed a few nights before his death.
Terry Lutz and Brent Johnson join the firm.
McClure opened its doors in the Des Moines Metro Area in 1986. With a small staff, Chuck VanGilder relocates to Altoona, Iowa to operate our second office location. Soon to follow a third office was opened in the Iowa City area, expanding McClure’s reach across the state.
McClure opens a new office in Sioux City, Iowa in April 2014.
McClure merges with Trabue, Hansen & Hinshaw Inc. (THHinc) of Columbia, Missouri. The combination of McClure and THHinc brings together two well-respected, Midwest engineering firms. Both firms have specific specialties to offer clients and the communities they serve.
