PORTSMOUTH, NEW HAMPSHIRE, January 5, 2025 – McClure is pleased to welcome Denis to the team, bringing decades of hands-on transportation and construction leadership experience to support McClure’s transportation and infrastructure projects.
Denis recently retired from the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) after a distinguished 26-year career in Project Development. His contributions to the transportation industry have been widely recognized, including the prestigious David H. Stevens Award for Transportation Excellence at the 74th Annual Transportation Conference and the AASHTO 25-Year Service Pin.
Denis began his career with MaineDOT in 1999 as an Assistant Technician in the Ellsworth Division Office and steadily advanced through a series of leadership roles. His positions included Project Manager for the Ellsworth Division, Senior Project Manager overseeing design and construction for Regions 1 and 4, and Senior Project Manager, for statewide construction based out of the Augusta office. He later served as Maintenance and Operations Regional Manager for Region 3, followed by Assistant Program Manager and ultimately Regional Program Manager.
As Regional Program Manager, Denis administered approximately 160 contracts annually, including light and heavy overlays, rehabilitation projects, CHIP projects, large culverts, bridge culverts, and emergency and storm-damage work. His responsibilities included overseeing design, advertising, and construction to ensure projects were delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Before joining MaineDOT, Denis spent more than 20 years working for multiple contractors on heavy roadway construction projects. Beginning as a laborer and progressing to Superintendent, he developed a deep, practical understanding of road construction from the ground up.
At McClure, Denis will focus on construction inspection and management while mentoring the next generation of transportation professionals, including both DOT team members and consultant teams. He believes road construction is a craft rooted in experience and teamwork, and continuous learning, and he is passionate about passing on his knowledge. After several years in office-based leadership roles, he is excited to return to the field and finish his career where it began: building roads.
When asked what led him to McClure, Denis shared “I had offers and interviews with several consultant firms, most of them made me feel like just a number and someone for billable hours. With McClure it felt more like family and being a part of something bigger. A lot of McClures ideals align with my own, never miss a deadline, it takes a Team to build a successful project, not just one person.”
