BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, September 22, 2025 – McClure is excited to welcome John Alessi as Transportation Planning Lead on our Transportation team!

John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont and a Master of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from Northeastern University.

With over five years in the public sector at both the state and local levels, John has helped communities expand transportation options focused on walking, biking, and transit. He began his career at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation as a Sustainable Mobility Coordinator and later served as Transportation Planner for the City of Malden, MA, and Senior Transportation Planner for the Town of Arlington, MA. In these roles, he led roadway redesign projects, facilitated community engagement, and built consensus around sustainable transportation initiatives.

John is passionate about reducing carbon emissions and creating inclusive travel options; he views multi-modal planning as a powerful tool for environmental impact. His own commute to McClure’s Boston office includes walking, biking, transit, and even a commuter ferry—fueling his enthusiasm for the work he does. At McClure, John will lead efforts to development our transportation planning practice and strengthen our East Coast presence. His goal is to support communities in developing inclusive, consensus-driven roadway redesigns that help people, regardless of travel mode, reach their destinations safely and conveniently. John is excited to join a large, experienced team and looks forward to what they can accomplish together. He’s passionate about sharing knowledge, staying current with field equipment and technology.

When asked what brought him to McClure, he shared, “I am excited to take the lead on developing McClure’s new transportation planning practice and partner with this talented team to deliver great multi-modal projects for communities throughout the region.”
