Project Blue – Fontainebleau Las Vegas Lobby
McClure earned second place in the Commercial category of the 2025 CFSEI Design Excellence Awards for its role in Project Blue—an eye-catching, doubly curved cold-formed steel (CFS) ceiling system inside the Fontainebleau Las Vegas lobby.
The design features prefabricated CFS ceiling “clouds” composed of crimped radiused studs and tapered framing, creating a fluid, overlapping leaf-like geometry. Prefabrication ensured precise shapes while minimizing onsite labor and complexity.
The team tackled numerous challenges, including seismic requirements, hidden movement joints, and integrated diffusers. When recessed lighting was added late in construction, McClure adapted the panel system with custom retrofits to preserve structural integrity without disrupting the design.
Project Blue showcases how CFS can deliver both structural performance and architectural sophistication—bringing form, function, and flexibility to one of Las Vegas’s newest entertainment landmarks.
