Clive, Iowa, September 7, 2023 – Midwest-based McClure, a firm specializing in Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering and Surveying has announced the hire of a Chief Operating Officer.
McClure announced today that effective September 6, 2023, Chris Clement, former Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, began as the company’s Chief Operating Officer, a strategic move to continue McClure’s growth outside of the Midwest and support organizational leadership company wide.

McClure was founded in 1956 and provides a full spectrum of professional engineering and surveying services to both public and private clients. The firm currently has 12 offices throughout Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas as well as most recently acquiring Iron Engineering in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, adding the firm’s first East Coast office. Though primarily located in the Midwest, McClure has worked in nearly all 50 states throughout the country. Leo noted this statistic as one of the driving factors to bring Clement on as a leader of the company, noting that his relationships and experience are of great value in growing the Eastern United States presence.

Clement’s resume has included notable roles including Director, Global Product Management for Heidelberg / GOSS International, Vice President Finance and Administration, CFO, and COO for the University of New Hampshire, and most recently CEO of a start-up robotic infrastructure inspection company. Clement, who will be based in McClure’s Portsmouth, New Hampshire office, will continue to support McClure’s growth and integration of strategic initiatives.
