BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, January 22, 2024 – Joseph Johnson has joined the McClure team as the Director of Transportation for the East Region.

Johnson received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University (Potsdam, NY) and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from St. Michael’s College (Colchester, VT). He is also certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) and a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of New Hampshire. Before joining McClure, he worked for Greenman-Pedersen Inc. (GPI) for nearly 25 years starting as an intern in their Lebanon, New Jersey office. After graduation, he started at GPI in a full-time position working as a Traffic Engineer where his focus was traffic analysis, traffic signal design, and conceptual design. In 2001 he transferred to GPI’s New England Branch and continued his work as a Traffic Engineer where his early years were spent working on the Central Artery Project (i.e. ‘Big Dig’ in Boston). Over the last 20+ years he has had the privilege to work with various clients including MassDOT, NHDOT, the City of Boston, and many municipalities in both MA and NH. His project experience is diverse, ranging from isolated intersection projects, traffic calming, multi-modal urban streets, rail trails, to complex interchanges. His roles have included Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Director of Traffic Engineering, Director of Safety and Mobility, and Vice President/Director of Transportation.

Johnson will work alongside the Transportation team to achieve the McClure vision of making lives better. He is looking forward to creating opportunities for staff that will be rewarding both personally and professionally. He is also eager to create a team within a positive, supportive environment where they can work together to achieve their goals as a group. When asked what made him decide to join McClure, he said, “McClure’s values really resonated with me and my interaction with staff confirmed that they practice what they preach. McClure’s leadership is extremely talented, authentic, and approachable. I feel very lucky to have this opportunity to build the McClure team in the east region.”
