This project consisted of a 3- to 4-story, 115,000-square-foot cold-formed steel structure built over a concrete podium that houses a garage. The floor system utilized 20-inch-deep cold-formed joists with metal decking and gypcrete topping for strength and durability. Lateral stability was achieved through X-braced cold-formed strap walls, with provisions for concrete or CMU shafts as part of the design process. Balconies were constructed from aluminum and supported by cold-formed steel panels. McClure’s scope included the complete structural design above the podium, as well as coordination and review to ensure precision and efficiency throughout the project.
