McClure provided surveying, hydraulic analysis, permitting, preliminary and final bridge design, and geotechnical engineering services for the replacement of a low water crossing in Scotland County, Missouri. The project was funded through the Off-System Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Program (BRO). The original structure consisted of a concrete low water crossing with multiple culverts conveying flow from the South Wyaconda River. Due to frequent high water levels, the crossing was impassable for more than half the year.

The final design features a single-span bridge supported by H-piles with precast prestressed NU girders and a cast-in-place concrete deck. This modern structure significantly improves hydraulic capacity, reduces the risk of scour, and restores reliable year-round access. The increased width also accommodates two-way traffic and large agricultural equipment—enhancing connectivity and safety for the local farming community. McClure is also providing construction observation and materials testing services to support successful project delivery.

Highlights

  • Implemented a single-span bridge design to enhance water conveyance and minimize long-term maintenance
  • Restored reliable access along the county road by eliminating frequent closures caused by the low water crossing
  • Fully met the requirements of the Off-System Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation (BRO) Program
