Canyon Farms
Lenexa, KS
McClure provided landscape architectural services for the Canyon Farms Golf Club, Silo Modern Farmhouse and clubhouse project, near the Lenexa City Center District in Lenexa, Kansas. The landscape planting design was carefully planned and laid out to enhance the new entry drive into the clubhouse parking lot, with emphasis paid to the preserved silo structure on-site. The arrangement of the tree materials and planting beds in front of the clubhouse building were arranged to focus user’s attention to the building architecture. Tree materials were located early on to provide time for growth prior to the construction of a future pool on the west side of the clubhouse building, ensuring for as much screening as possible when built. Landscape plantings were also laid out to enhance and screen the retaining wall fencing for the eastward views from the new outdoor patio space and synthetic turf gathering space off the covered patio area. A palette of native and xeric plantings were used to create a prairie-style planting design through the parking and entry drive sequence, and to help tie in the plant materials throughout the course itself with those used around the clubhouse.
