Old Five Road Bridge
Versailles, MO
Morgan County selected McClure to design a replacement bridge on Old Five Road, utilizing county funds with the intent to earn Soft Match Credit through the Off-System Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Program (BRO). The structure was designed with precast concrete box girders supported by Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil–Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS) abutments keyed into underlying limestone.
This innovative GRS-IBS design incorporates layers of masonry blocks, geotextile fabric, and compacted gravel to form a stable bearing surface for the superstructure while significantly reducing the risk of scour. In addition to design services, McClure provided construction observation and permitting support to ensure successful project delivery and regulatory compliance.
