The Soldier Creek Restoration project aims to improve the environment and enhance community access near Badger, Iowa. The project includes restoring the stream and reconnecting its natural floodplain to improve water flow and ecological function. It involves adding meanders, creating oxbows, and establishing a new stream buffer with adjacent seeding to stabilize the banks and enhance water quality. Additionally, the project includes redesigning the pedestrian trail and installing a new bridge, creating a safe and scenic pathway. Once completed, the upgraded trail will connect to a new route north of Highway D14 (170th Street), providing both environmental and recreational benefits for the area.
