159TH STREET REINFORCED CONCRETE BOX EXTENSION

Project Overview

McClure provided survey, permitting, preliminary and final design services to extend the existing RCB for the project “Q.3-7.0 Guard Rail Improvements”. The existing structure was a triple-cell RCB on 159th Street in Johnson County, Kansas and needed extensions on both ends for widening the structure to accommodate guardrail improvements. The final design included a triple cell RCB extension utilizing cast-in-place concrete culvert construction methods and design of new MGS guardrail.

Project Highlights:

  • Improved safety for the traveling public by widening the roadway and installing sufficient guardrail.
  • Saved money by utilizing the existing box culvert and extending vs. replacing the entire structure.
