BOWLING GREEN MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (H19), BOX HANGAR CONSTRUCTION AND AIRPORT LAYOUT PLAN (ALP) UPDATE
Project Overview
McClure assisted the Bowling Green Municipal Airport with the design and construction of a two-unit box hangar, including an update to the Airport’s Layout Plan (ALP) drawings to show existing conditions following construction of the hangar on the ALP that was previously prepared in 2005 by another airport consultant.
The airport has a constantly expanding and vibrant aviation tenant community and FBO services. New aircraft storage facilities are in demand while existing hangars are in need of renovation or replacement. As a result, the City hired McClure for the design, bidding, and construction administration services to construct a two-unit box hangar, including an update to their existing Airport Master Plan to show existing conditions. McClure coordinated and worked closely with Missouri Department of Transportation Aviation personnel, including Millicent Parker, Darrell Goth, and Andrew Hanks to complete the hangar design and construction requirements for the project, including the update to the ALP as a result of the hangar construction.
The following are the highlights and major scope of the hangar/ALP update project:
- Update the Airport Layout Drawing Sheet – Existing
- Update the Airport Layout Drawing Sheet – Future
- Update the Airport Layout Drawing Sheet – Terminal Area Plan
- Update the Airport Layout Drawing Sheet – Land Use Drawing
- Provide design, bidding, and construction administration services for the hangar construction
- Provide grant administration services
Project Highlights:
The existing Airport Layout Plan drawings identified future hangar footprints in the terminal area. McClure completed the design, bidding, and is currently completing the construction administration services for the two-unit box hangar located on the northern side of the existing terminal apron. Two box hangar footprints are shown on the current approved ALP in the general area of construction. The partial ALP update will be completed following the completion of the hangar construction to identify the exact location of the box hangar and modify the status from future to existing.
In addition, all additional ALP drawing sheets showing the future hangar locations will be updated to show the current existing conditions at the airport.
