WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY

Project Overview

From both a design and construction perspective, this 11-story student housing project is the model for many projects to come. Constructed of prefabricated cold formed steel wall panels and joists over a steel podium, this building has rocketed into the sky. This, combined with extensive 3D coordination between trades during design, has significantly reduced cost and delays associated with field issues. MEC also performed frequent on-site observations to ensure that construction follows the design intent.

DOWNTOWN MASTER PLAN AND STREETSCAPE

Project Overview

In July 2019, the City of West Monroe was awarded a Rural Business Development Grant by the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Rural Development. The City of West Monroe leveraged this federal grant program to develop a downtown master plan. The two public visioning sessions were attended by more than 100 residents who provided their input and feedback about the opportunities and challenges facing their community, with emphasis on the downtown and riverfront areas.

As a part of the visioning process, five priority projects were identified: streetscape, a new food hall concept, distillery, housing, and cohesive branding + wayfinding for the downtown area.
