KAUFFMAN SCHOOL
Project Overview
McClure provided design services for the construction of a new magnet high school for the Kansas City Public School District. The school is a three-school campus (two middle schools and a high school) of mission-driven college preparatory schools in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri. The site was previously home to a global religious organization, consisting of two aging buildings. This project involved renovating one building, constructing a new facility, and creating recreational fields for inner-city students.
Project Highlights:
- The existing facility records were either missing or outdated, so the McClure had to occupy the site to document all underground infrastructure and assess the capacity of the existing utilities.
- Implementing the proposed improvements required extensive traffic studies and the relocation of service drives to ensure safe access for student drop-off, pick-up, and staging areas for parents.
- This project was key to providing an an exceptional educational opportunity to students in an area where quality education was previously unavailable.
