OHIO UNIVERSITY HOUSING – PHASE 2

Project Overview

This new student housing style apartment building at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio consists of two 4-story and one 5-story buildings. The typical building system is load-bearing CFS wall panels and open web joists supplied by Eisen Group. The floor system is concrete deck over the floor joists and the lateral system consists of mostly strap braced CFS shearwalls. There is also a significant amount of red iron steel on the project.

 

Project Highlights:

  • Economized red iron design in combination with the CFS wall panels involving combined element design allowed for significant red iron cost savings on the project.
  • Shearwall coordination with the design team to minimize shearwall end reactions quantity of embeds throughout the foundation system on the project.
  • Coordination and development of specialized brick supporting connections to CFS posts within the wall panels around the perimeter of the structure.
