ANKENY SOUTH APRON ACCESS ROAD AND UTILITIES-PHASE 1

Project Overview

The Ankeny Regional Airport as the third busiest airport in the state of Iowa provides private, corporate, and freight operation aviation services to the greater Des Moines area and Polk County. The Airport wanted to expand their capacity to serve the surrounding area and tasked McClure with the Design, Bidding, and Construction Administration Services of Phase 1 of the South Apron Access Road & Utilities. The purpose of this project is to open a new area for development of hangars and offices on the south side of the Airport. The proposed actions evaluated by McClure include:

  • Constructing a paved access road to connect to Phase I Hangars
  • Expand utilities including sanitary, storm, electrical, and water lines to accommodate up to 18 future hangars
  • Design drainage channel and underdrain system modifications to accommodate new construction of Phase I Hangars

McClure is working closely with the Polk County Aviation Authority and the potential Phase I Hangar tenants to ensure this project is completed on schedule and under budget.

Project Highlights:

These infrastructure improvements are the first step in the expansion of Ankeny Regional Airport’s capacity, providing opportunities for the Airport to grow and better serve their customers. The Airport currently has a waiting list of businesses with interest in occupying these hangars, so the demand for this project’s completion is high.
