Ankeny Regional Airport, South Apron Access Road and Utilities

Ankeny Regional Airport, South Apron Access Road and Utilities

Ankeny, IA

The Ankeny Regional Airport, the third busiest airport in the state of Iowa, provides private, corporate, and freight aviation services to the greater Des Moines area and Polk County. To expand its capacity and better serve the surrounding region, the Airport tasked McClure with Design, Bidding, and Construction Administration Services for Phase 1 of the South Apron Access Road & Utilities project. The goal of this project was to open a new area for the development of hangars and offices on the south side of the Airport. Improvements included constructing a paved access road to connect to Phase I hangars, expanding utilities such as sanitary, storm, electrical, and water lines to support up to 18 future hangars, and modifying the drainage channel and underdrain system to accommodate new construction.

McClure worked closely with the Polk County Aviation Authority and potential Phase I hangar tenants to ensure the project was completed on schedule and under budget. With infrastructure and access now in place, the Airport is positioned to support future hangar development and meet growing aviation demands, reinforcing its role as a key asset to the region.
