SW STATE STREET RECONSTRUCTION – SOUTHBOUND LANES

Project Overview

SW State Street is a heavily traveled arterial roadway in Ankeny, Iowa. The existing roadway was experiencing deteriorating pavement, so the City of Ankeny hired McClure to design the reconstruction of the southbound lanes, from SW Ordnance Road to West First Street. The northbound lanes along this stretch had previously been reconstructed three years prior. The project included reconstruction of the existing PCC pavement, subdrain and storm sewer installation, raised PCC medians, ADA sidewalk ramps, new pedestrian push button pedestals, pavement markings, and signing.

Project Highlights

  • Construction costs: $1.41 Million
  • SW State Street has traffic volumes of 15,000 vehicles per day
  • McClure worked closely with the City of Ankeny, as well as adjacent property owners, including the John Deere manufacturing plant, to create a staging plan for the project that provided access to businesses and homes during the project, as well as ease of construction for the Contractor.
  • As part of the project, McClure performed survey, preliminary and final design, bidding services, construction administration, construction inspection, and record drawing services.
