Kimpton Hotel

St. Louis, MO

McClure served as the specialty structural engineer for the Kimpton St. Louis Hotel, a seven‑story boutique property featuring approximately 170 guest rooms in the heart of downtown St. Louis. Designed to reflect Kimpton’s signature boutique aesthetic and elevated guest experience, the hotel offers a unique blend of modern luxury and urban sophistication.

McClure provided engineering services for the cold-formed steel (CFS) superstructure, including the design of both gravity and lateral systems. Our team worked in close collaboration with the architect and developer to deliver an efficient, cost-effective framing solution while meeting Kimpton’s exacting brand standards. This required extensive coordination to accommodate complex architectural layouts and integrate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems without compromising design intent.

The hotel boasts expansive amenity spaces and meeting rooms, as well as three distinctive dining and entertainment venues—a vibrant main-level restaurant, an inviting lobby lounge, and an elevated rooftop bar offering panoramic city views. Each of these spaces required customized structural solutions for cantilevered elements and varying roof assemblies, ensuring both performance and architectural expression.

McClure’s thoughtful engineering approach supported the seamless realization of this landmark hospitality destination, combining technical precision with the flexibility needed for a high-end boutique experience.
