Johnson County, Kansas, hired McClure to prepare a schematic concept plan for a regional facility to draw local and tournament softball and baseball competition. With much national interest, it quickly became apparent that this idea was indeed a boost to the local and regional area, and final plans and City approval was sought and granted without opposition.
Highlights
- McClure prepared the concept plan and based upon local bids, a revised grading plan was required to reduce earthwork costs for the project.
- Site lighting was modified several times based upon local residential comments to prove to the City that this project was indeed a “good neighbor.”
- Tournament traffic proved to be more than anticipated on the locals streets, which required public road improvements for the County and City.
