Project Blue is a striking cold-formed steel (CFS) ceiling installation inside the Fontainebleau Las Vegas lobby, designed to deliver both structural performance and architectural impact. McClure served as the specialty CFS engineer for the doubly curved ceiling system, earning recognition for its innovative approach and seamless execution.

The design features prefabricated ceiling “clouds” made from crimped radiused studs and tapered framing, forming a fluid, leaf-like geometry. Prefabrication ensured precision while reducing onsite labor and complexity.

McClure addressed seismic requirements, hidden movement joints, and integrated diffusers. When recessed lighting was added late in construction, the team adapted the panel system with custom retrofits to maintain structural integrity without compromising design.

Project Blue highlights McClure’s ability to merge form and function in high-profile commercial spaces.

This project earned Second Place in the Commercial category of the 2025 CFSEI Design Excellence Awards.
