The Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine is a two-story, 40,000-square-foot religious facility featuring intricate architectural details, including towers, clerestories, interior and exterior domes, barrel vaults, and pendentive framing. McClure collaborated with Radius Track Corporation to provide structural design and detailing support, specifically for the complex curved cold-formed steel (CFS) framing elements throughout the building.

The 40-foot diameter main dome was designed as a self-supporting, load-bearing system constructed with crimped CFS studs integrated with laser-cut steel components, including a circular tension ring and a built-up compression box ring. Smaller domes were framed using more traditional methods, though they required specialized hoisting engineering due to their complex curvature. The half dome presented unique challenges, as its compression ring could not penetrate the exterior brick finish. McClure developed a solution using the interior finish dome for lateral support, tying both domes together at the top to centralize thrust transfer. A tension ring at the base provided vertical load distribution and acted as a wind girt. The interior pendentives, while appearing uniform, involved multiple framing directions and spans, demanding advanced 3D modeling and surface coordination. This project exemplifies McClure’s expertise in pushing the boundaries of cold-formed steel to solve highly complex structural challenges.
