INDEPENDENCE SEVEN INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS

Project Overview

McClure in collaboration with Clarkson Construction and Superior Bowen, one of the largest asphalt paving construction companies in the Midwest, supported the City of Independence, Missouri, in pavement repair of seven intersection locations. McClure led the engineering analysis, design, traffic control and public involvement components of the project. To enhance efficiency and streamline project work, the design-build delivery method was used to allow various intersections to be completed and evaluated by the public and City, and then quickly permit revisions to be incorporated before the remaining intersections were finalized.

Project Highlights:

• Project work consisted of removing and replacing the existing concrete with asphalt pavement
• Sidewalk ramp reconstruction per ADA requirements
• Installation of traffic signal video detection to replace traffic loop detectors and pavement marking
• The intersections were shared with the public, evaluated by the City, permit revisions completed and then constructed
